Average Tech Salaries by Metro Area
When choosing a job location typically you want to live in an area that has a consistent year or year growth or strong growth. This job growth is fueled by companies moving into to area and the need for more skilled qualified professionals.
Dice has determined that Columbus, OH , St. Louis, MO , Atlanta, GA , Denver, CO , Dallas-Ft Worth, TX , and San Diego are the emerging tech hub markets to pay attention to.
Average Tech Salaries by Occupation
I want to highlight the occupations that saw the highest salary jump. Sales Engineers average salary rose by 21.8% , Technical Recruiters rose by 12% (this is a sleeper field that is in tech but doesn’t require tech skills), Data Scientist rose by 11.4%, Security Engineer rose by 9.5%, UI/UI Designer rose by 7.5%.
I’d also pay close attention to the occupations that saw declines of 4% or more. This could be an indication of a lack of demand in the future, but we won’t be too sure until the 2021 report is released.
